Samuel Black

Samuel Hodgson Black, 58, a son of the late Dr. Charles Holmes Black and Mary Jane Hodgson Black and the husband of the late Flora May Lancaster Black, died Saturday afternoon at his nome 328 Archer St.

A year ago, he was retired as an inspector of the Duquesne Light Co. after 43 years of service. Born in Elizabeth, June 25, 1874, he is survived by five daughers, Mrs. Irene Swanson, of Homestead; Mrs. Hazel Brown, and Mrs. Erda Kaiser of McKeesport, Helen and Dorothea Black, at home; five sons, Kenneth, of Steubenville, O.; Alvin of Clairton; Ney, of McKeesport; Elmer and Gene, in the U.S. Navy; one brother, William L. Black of McKeesport; and one sister, Mrs. Estella Smith, of Pittsburgh.

Friends are being received at the Hunter-Edmundson-Striffler Funeral Home where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. T. H. Carson. Burial is to be in Versailles Cemetery.

Mr. Black was a member of the Woodmen of the World, McKeesport Camp.
