Oscar Joseph Tillman was born January 3, 1872 to John Francis Haden Tillman, born September 10, 1842, and Martha Ann Sandifer, born 1850. (1) In the 1880 Census, he is listed as a son, aged 7, of John F. and Martha Tillman. He married Alice May Wainwright, and they had one child, Elmer Hayden, born 1898. They lived most of their lives in Copiah County, Mississippi.
On October 22, 1927, he married Pearl C. Flowers of Belzonia, Humphrey, Mississippi. The marriage took place in Miller, AR. He is listed as living in Memphis, Shelby, TN.(2) In 1918, Oscar was living in Mobile, AL, from his son’s WWII draft registration card.(3) In the 1940 census, he is enumerated with his wife Pearl. He died on August 15, 1951 and is buried in the IOOF Cemetery , Greenwood, Leflore County, Mississippi.
